Freedom of Information Request – Ref: GHC-26092025-452374
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
You asked:
For any training materials held by the Trust that relate to withdrawing from, discontinuing or stopping psychiatric drugs in relation to the last 12 months: 26/09/24 – 26/09/25
Our response:
The Trust does not hold any training material that relates to withdrawing from, discontinuing or stopping psychiatric drugs. The Trusts pharmacy team however provide this on a case by case basis as withdrawing from, discontinuing, or stopping psychiatric drugs should be an individualised intervention.
All clinical staff have access to the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines – this material is not held by the Trust directly but accessed via the ‘Open Athens’ portal for online books/journals, which all clinical staff can utilise. This material has been available to our clinicians continuously since April 2024.
As part of the Trust’s Continuing Medical Education programme, a 1-hour training session on deprescribing was delivered by our Lead Pharmacist for Community MH. This training was delivered to Consultant, SAS and Resident doctors, as well as advanced clinical practitioners/trainee ACPs. The session was held in March 2025 and materials from the session shared with all doctors and ACP/tACP working in our MH services.
