FOI Request

I am making a FOI request in respect of the referral criteria for the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT), Gloucestershire.

FOI Response

Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 127-2025

Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.

You asked:

I am making a FOI request in respect of the referral criteria for the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT), Gloucestershire.

Our response:

The person must have a learning disability. (Not a learning difficulty)

We are a treatment service, not a diagnostic service; we do not accept referrals purely for a diagnosis of learning disability

The individual must have clearly defined health needs under at least one of our ten specialist care pathways, which cannot be met by mainstream services even with reasonable adjustments

Always consider mainstream services first – even if someone has a diagnosed learning disability, they should be supported to access mainstream services (with reasonable adjustments)

CLDT Care Pathways:

Mental health and emotional wellbeing

Positive behaviour support

Communication

Daily living

Dysphagia (eating and drinking)

Epilepsy

Learning disability memory assessment (MAP)

Mobility

Postural management

Complex physical health
