We write to you on behalf of the Academic Collaborative for Equality & Inclusivity in Surgery ACEIS. UK. We are a newly formed independent think tank that is performing a deep dive into workforce inequalities faced by both gender and race in surgery.

Background:
I am a student at the University of Liverpool, studying for an MSc in data science and artificial intelligence. My dissertation will be on how artificial intelligence AI. is used in the NHS. The information you provide will be included in my MSc dissertation and could potentially be included in academic publications. 1. Please provide on an all-specialties basis, for the end of February 2021. your aggregate 52+ weeks incomplete pathways RTT data, broken down into weekly time bands: >52-53 weeks, >53-54 weeks, >54-55 weeks, and so on, up to the weekly time band containing the longest-waiting patient.
The published RTT incomplete pathways data separately identifies patients with a decision to admit, again broken down into weekly time bands, in the “Provider with DTA” worksheet of the published spreadsheets referred to above. Trusts have in recent months coded these patients by clinical priority P1-P6., based on the guide published by the Federation of Surgical Specialty Associations. However the published RTT data is not broken down by clinical priority, nor do the time bands reflect the time since decision to admit.
The clinical priority categories are:
• Priority 1 operation needed within 72 hours.
• Priority 2 surgery which can be deferred for up to four weeks.
• Priority 3 surgery which can be delayed for up to three months.
• Priority 4 surgery which can be delayed for more than three months.
• Priority 5 patients who have requested to remain on the waiting list but to defer treatment because of their concerns about covid-19.
• Priority 6 Patients who have been offered treatment but have declined to accept for non-Covid reasons, but still wish to remain on the waiting list.
• Or the patient may not have been assigned a priority.
2. Please provide on an all-specialties basis, for the end of February 2021. your aggregate waiting times for incomplete pathways with a decision to admit for treatment, broken down by priority code, and also broken down by the time waited since decision to admit NOT the time since referral. in weekly time bands: 0-1 weeks, >1-2 weeks, >2-3 weeks, >3-4 weeks, and so on, up to the weekly time band containing the patient who has waited longest since decision to admit. As you may recall, Dr. Gabriella Conti, professor at the Department of Economics, University College London, and our team are working to evaluate the impact of health visiting on health outcomes in England. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic we have been concerned about the families and children that rely on health visitors for vital care and safeguarding. Our research on health visiting during the pandemic has already reached policy makers and chief nurses, was cited in the recent Westminster Hall Debate on maternal mental health led by Sarah Olney MP and was featured on a BBC radio programme and in news outlets such as the Guardian. You have already provided us with highly valuable information on your health visiting services during the first wave of COVID-19. We released our findings in a briefing note – do let us know if you would like us to share this with you. This has been shared widely and was well received by Andrea Leadsom’s Early years healthy development review team. Thank you for your helpful responses. We hope to continue improving awareness of the challenges faced by health visiting teams and raising health visiting up the policy agenda.

I am an MSc paramedic science student at Nottingham Trent University, and I am undertaking a dissertation around childhood autism diagnosis and the links to adult mental health difficulties. As such, I am reaching out to a number of trusts to obtain some further information on what services are available and gather some information. I would be very grateful if you could possibly help me. We are undertaking project which aims to describe usual care in terms of current physical activity programmes that are offered to people with severe mental ill health SMI. in NHS Mental Health Trusts in England.
Provision of physical activity PA. programmes varies across the trusts and remains unknown to the wider community of interest. This variation in PA provision for people with SMI has, in some locations, hindered commissioning and evaluation of the programmes. Furthermore, there are no guidelines that specify the optimal PA provision/TAU for those with SMI. This is a further significant gap, given that provision of PA has the potential to reduce the burden on the NHS, communities and society as a whole. Our work/project will produce new knowledge that will be of value to policy makers, commissioners and providers who are involved in the current provision of PA for those with SMI. It is organised by researchers from Sheffield Hallam University, University of York, Northumbria University and King’s College London. It has been funded by the UKRI Policy Support Fund and it has been approved by the Northumbria University Research Ethics Committee. We would be very grateful if you could provide us with information about current physical activity programmes that offered to people with SMI in your Trust.
