You asked:
1. Is Basic Life Support course mandatory for the medical professionals working for the Trust?
Our response:
Yes, as a minimum, Level 2 resuscitation, which includes Basic Life Support and AED training – is mandatory for all patient facing staff working in the organisation, including medical professionals.

2. How many courses per year does your resus training department deliver?
Our response:
From 1.10.24-30.9.2025 a total of 503 courses resuscitation course we delivered:
- 236 Level 2 Resuscitation courses were delivered (BLS & AED)
- 267 Level 3 Resuscitation courses were delivered (ILS equivalent)
You asked:
3. What percentage of doctors/nurses/midwives and other allied health professionals have done BLS training in the last 1 year?
Our response:
It is mandatory for all staff who are patient facing to complete Level 2 Resus as a minimum
- Level 2 eLearning 95%
- Level 2 Practical 88%
- Level 3 91%
You asked:
4. What percentage of your medical personnel have profession specific Advanced Life Support training?
Our response:
As a Community / Mental Health Trust the RCUK ALS is not a requirement.
The organisation has hospital sites which are nurse led that require 999 emergency response to transfer patients to the nearest Acute hospital.
It is mandatory for all staff who are patient facing to complete Level 2 Resus as a minimum (RCUK BLS & AED).
All staff working in inpatient areas with access to resuscitation equipment are required to complete Level 3 Resus training (RCUK ILS equivalent).
