Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 457-2023
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
1. Does the Trust have a person appointed Armed Forces/Veterans Champion? Neil Savage for Armed Forces Covenant, Step into Health, Employer Recognition Scheme – for employment, reservist and volunteering related matters. 2. If so, what is their name and contact details?
Neil.Savage@ghc.nhs.uk
3. Does the Trust have an agreed suicide prevention action plan or strategy? There is a Gloucestershire multi-agency Suicide Prevention Strategy and this is being reviewed and updated as we recover from COVID. The Trust has an annually refreshed “ZERO suicide” plan in line with NHSE requirements
4. If so, does this strategy recognise veterans as an at-risk, priority or tailored group? Yes, veterans are explicitly references as needing tailored approaches for mental health.
5. If so, does your strategy reference veterans in any other way? No, but there will be additional reference in the revised strategy and we are also widely publishing access to specialist Op COURAGE for provision of mental health support for our veterans and those leaving the forces. The Trust is also accredited as a Veteran Aware Trust. 6. If so, when is your strategy due to be reviewed? Current review being untaken.
