Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
1. Does your Trust measure its total carbon footprint? If yes, what is the carbon footprint of your Trust?
2019-20 baseline is 7,730 tCO2e for direct carbon emissions
2. What steps has your Trust taken towards meeting the Greener NHS target of Net Zero by 2045? Development of the Trust Green Plan which is due to be Board approved in January 2022.
3. What percentage of your Trust energy consumption comes from fossil fuels? 38% gas and 7% heating oil
4. What steps is your Trust taking to reduce its fossil fuel consumption? By 2023-24 heating oil boilers will be obsolete from the Trust. We will also aim to replace existing gas boilers with low carbon heat pumps at our larger inpatient/hospital sites.
5. How many vehicles are in your Trust’s fleet? 104
6. How many of your Trust’s fleet uses: • Petrol/Diesel • Hybrid • C. Electric 86

7. Does your Trust have a policy on reducing the use of single-use plastics including for clinical and/or non-clinical items.? If yes, please provide details of this policy and the reduction achieved to date. This will effectively be constituted by the Trusts Green Plan and implementations plan. We signed up to the NHS Plastics Pledge to reduce single-use plastics in 2019.
8. Has your Trust received funding to spend specifically on sustainability and decarbonisation? If yes, please provide details on how much and over what time period. We were successful in our application for the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme and were awarded £700k which was invested in LED lighting and Solar PV projects at our mental health inpatient sites during 2021. We were also eligible for £3k Government OLEV. funding for installing Electric Vehicle Charging Points, the Trust currently has 18 7.2KWh. sockets across 5 different locations.
9. How much has your Trust spent in 2021 including specific funding received and any other expenditure. on activities related to sustainability and decarbonisation? Including capital backlog maintenance schemes the Trust has invested £1,690,000 during financial year of 2021-22.
