Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 268-2122
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
1. How many memory assessment clinics does the trust run, or is dementia primarily diagnosed by GPs? Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS FT has 4 Memory Assessment Teams that operate throughout the year, they are encouraging GPs to diagnose in primary care with support from our services; however at present they are mainly completed in GHC MAS teams.
2. What is the total average throughput per annum for all clinics? Amalgamated or by individual clinic The average number of initial assessments carried out by the MAS team per annum over the last 5 years is 1770.
3. What cognitive tests are used, and how are the tests administered? We use the ACE-R assessment, bloods and scan results, history and feedback from family etc. For people from a BAME background we tend to use the RUDAS tool as this is less culturally dependant.
