————————-Sarah,
Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 056-2022
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in order to determine whether your trust
provides any training or professional development about being an active bystander in response to
sexual harassment and misconduct in the workplace context.
If this training is available, please can you provide information on:
1. Whether this training is mandatory or
elective
This training has been actively considered and is
in the early development phase, with scoping due
to commence in April 2022 in order to develop
Sexual Safety Awareness training as per the
national guidance, initially within identified pilot
mental health inpatient areas. This will be in line
with the National Mental Health Improvement
Programme work stream to improve Sexual Safety
for service users and colleagues. Work has taken
place within the Trust to improve reporting of
sexual safety incidents for increased
understanding of the issues and scale. Incident
reporting has improved and the need for training
has been recognised. A new Trust policy has also
been approved to provide guidance to staff, and
training will include reference to both incident
reporting and policy guidance. As the initial
training will be piloted, it will commence as
elective.
2. If any pamphlets, brochures, handbooks,
online materials which can be sent to me
as a PDF. or similar content is made
available either stand alone or as part of
the training, and if so, please attach it to
the FOI response
Please see the attached folder of information
which includes:
. National Mental Health Improvement
Programme Driver Diagram
. Trust Draft sexual safety training proposal
. Sexual Safety Collaborative guidance
. Trust Policy on Sexual Safety
3. Where available, the number or percentage As per the information provided above, this
of your staff who have completed this
training and/or education.
training has been actively considered and is in the
early development phase, with scoping due to
commence in April 2022 in order to develop
Sexual Safety Awareness training as per the
national guidance. It is our intention to develop
future metrics to measure completion of training,
and what difference it makes to both colleagues
and people who use services, concerning sexual
safety. Co-production will be an important element.
This will be developed and agreed from April 2022
as part of the training plan going forward.
