Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 257-2122
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request received via post on 2nd November 2021. Please find our response below.
1. How many people have died in your hospitals that are part of the Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS FT from COVID-19 alone? I am aware of the number of people that have died within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test, so they could have died from other causes. I just want to know the exact figure from 1st February 2020 until the 30th September 2021 of people that have died due COVID-19 alone and not anything else please. In order to answer this question, a review of patient Medical Certificate of Cause of Death MCCD. was undertaken. Between 01.02.2020 and 30.09.2021, there were 9 deaths of patients in GHCNHDFT hospitals, where COVID-19* was the only recorded disease or condition on the patients’ MCCD, including at Part 1 MCCD direct cause of death. and Part 2 other significant conditions contributing to death but not related to the direct cause of death recorded at Part 1 MCCD..
*To ensure inclusivity of data, in addition to ‘COVID-19’ being recorded at Part 1a MCCD, the table below shows the alternatives which were included in above figure, where COVID-19 remained the only cause of death recorded:
Part 1a MCCD Part 1b MCCD
Acute respiratory distress syndrome COVID-19
Covid-pneumonia –
Covid19 pneumonitis Coronavirus infection
Lower respiratory tract infection COVID-19
Pneumonia COVID-19
NB: Please note, as the request clearly stipulates ‘people that have died due COVID-19 alone and not anything else please’, deceased patients who had COVID-19 recorded at Part 1 MCCD, together with other conditions/diseases recorded at Part 1 and/or Part 2 of the MCCD have not been included in the above figure. If this information is required, please submit an additional request stipulating a breakdown of deaths where COVID-19 was recorded at Part 1 MCCD as the direct cause of death, regardless of whether any other conditions or diseases were recorded at Part 2 MCCD.

We are in the closing phase of a comprehensive nationwide study on Robotic Process Automation RPA. and the state of automation in the NHS. We are surveying if RPA has been procured by trusts and, if so, whether a Trust was able to quantify and measure any FTE savings.
Our aim is to produce a report that will serve to help the NHS make informed decisions around its future investment and strategy with regards to RPA and automation.
We sent out an FOI request to yourselves, as per below. You should have received the email between the dates in the first 2 weeks of July last year.
We would like to thank you for your response, We understand the Trust is faced with an unprecedented situation due to the pandemic. We would like to refresh our survey to understand the adoption of automation post pandemic.
The information we have requested will be helpful and insightful for the Trust and help to inform the wider NHS strategy to ensure it drives much-needed efficiency.
We kindly ask that you respond to the updated information on the FOI request previously sent. For your convenience, we have included the 2 questions that were asked originally below.
1. Has the Trust procured at any point a technology platform called Robotic Process Automation, also known as RPA? This is a new technology and therefore I am only asking the Trust to check its procurement and/or IT records as far back as 01/01/2016.
2. If the Trust has procured RPA, have they calculated how many Full-Time Equivalent hours have been saved as a result of the automation doing administrative tasks, which were otherwise carried out by human members of staff working for the Trust?
Looking forward to your response and wishing you and the team a nice day.

Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Unfortunately this does not relate to Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust.
As this request relates to ICS a response would need to come from the CCG and not ourselves. I believe Kerry O’ Hara at the CCG is the ICS lead for this so is probably more appropriate to respond. Kind Regards,

I would like to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act regarding the following:
1. The spending per financial year on translation services written. and interpreting services oral. for your organisation over each of the following 5 financial years: 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020, as well as the languages involved. Please do not include data regarding the spending on services for the deaf and blind such as sign language interpreting or Braille..
2. The total budget for your organisation for each of the 5 financial years the information above is provided on, for all expenses not just for translation and interpreting services, i.e. to include all expenses such as salaries, utilities, equipment, consumables etc., with only the total figure given, no breakdown necessary. For example, I assume the total budget would be a few dozen or hundred million pounds per financial year. This is so that I can calculate the translation and interpreting spending as a percentage of the organisation’s total budget which I suspect would be around or under 0.1%.. The data will be compiled, analysed and published on https://inboxtranslation.com
The above data and subsequent analysis will be part of my research and published on the above website. This means it would be available for free to anyone, so not used commercially. Can you please confirm this is OK from a copyright point of view? I would appreciate it if you could fill in and return the attached Excel document with the information requested only the first tab, named Data.. The second tab, named Example, is just an example of what I am looking for in terms of the information provided.
If there is anything unclear in my request or would like more information regarding the purpose of my research, please let me know, I would be happy to clarify.
Many thanks.
