Question 2
Can you please ask the service to outline what is involved in Intensive Clinical Management
ICM.?
Frequent appointments with a clinician for risk management, meal planning, goal setting and initial
behaviour change, support for carers, management of general mental health issues, physical health
monitoring, psychoeducation, liaison with support network including managing admissions and
discharges to and from hospital
Please ask the service how the Compassion Focused Therapy pilot was delivered. Was this as
outpatient therapy once per week or provided more intensively?
4 days per week 5-6.5 hours per day
Question 3
The answer to question 3 concerning ICM states that ICM will vary in intensity and frequency.
While we appreciate that the intensity of the treatment will vary depending on patient need, for
this project we need to know specifics around the maximum intensity of treatment that such
services are able to provide. This is because we are then intending to map this nationally
against a recommended level derived from the academic evidence. Can you please ask the
service what ICM could entail – as a maximum – in terms of the number of contacts per week and
the duration of those contacts?
Usual frequency is twice per week, but sometimes 3-5 times per week. Contacts are 30-60 minutes
Please ask the service whether the answer to the sub-question about supervised meal support
relates solely to the paused Day Treatment programme? If meal support can be provided as part
of ICM please can they disclose the maximum number of meals that can be supported per day?
Meal support relates to the DT Programme only

In line with the principles behind section 16 of the FOI Act, could the service please disclose the
typical number of patients it would expect to be receiving Intensive Clinical Management ICM.

Thank you for obtaining this response. Please pass on my thanks to the clinician/s involved too. I would like to seek clarification on some of the answers so that we have the details we need for this project.
