Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
We’re writing regarding the policies, protocols, and guidelines operated by each NHS Trust in relation to the care of transgender people.
We’re aware that NHS England Specialised Commissioning is responsible for commissioning specialist gender identity services in England. However, we’re interested in what guidelines are in place for the provision of transgender healthcare at primary and secondary care levels.
1. Any equality and/or diversity policies you have in place for patients. To advise we can only confirm for Clinical Policies with regard to this question. All the physical health clinical policies have had an Equality Impact Assessment EIA. undertaken. EIA’s are being undertaken currently for the Mental Health clinical policies, and this will be completed soon. Therefore our policies have been assessed for Equality either for gender, age or personal circumstance. 2. Any equality and/or diversity policies you have in place for staff. Please see attached as a separate PDF document. 3. Any guidelines, protocols, policies, or similar relating to care provision for transgender adults. 6. Any guidelines, etc. relating to shared care agreements and/or working with private services to facilitate treatment, particularly with regards to transgender healthcare. Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS FT are unable to answer this question, there is no Clinical Policy in relation to transgender treatments.
