Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 205-2022
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below:
I would like the following information for the last 5 years, please, broken down by year:
Milson Clinic
1. Who uses the Milson Clinic in Cheltenham demographics including but not limited to age of clients, sex, ethnicity, postcode area/council ward.?
a. Please see the attached annex 1 for data.
2. What do they use it for contraception, unwanted pregnancy advice, STIs or other.?
a. The Milsom street clinic provides sexual health and contraception services. The pregnancy advisory service is separate to the Integrated Sexual Health service and is provided from Hope House. Please see the attached annex 1 for data regarding reason for attendance. The ‘blanks’ within the data can be linked to patients attending for follow up appointments where the primary reason has already been captured.
3. How do they access it face to face, online, telephone.? a. All patients access Milsom street Face to Face – see annex 1.
4. How long have people had to wait between first making contact and seeing someone if they need a face to face appointment and what is the reason for their appointment?
a. Patients contacting the specialist sexual health service are triaged and depending on their presenting need are booked into an emergency same day appointment, or routine appointment with the service. At this point, patients who do not require a specialist service will be signposted to alternative points of care, including online testing, GP surgeries or community pharmacies. Due to limitations within the electronic patient record system we are currently unable to capture the exact wait between first contact and assessment face to face.
Hope House and wider
5. How many Cheltenham residents per month use Hope House in Gloucester and for what services?
a. Please see the attached annex 1 for data. The blanks are linked to follow up appointments, where the primary reason has already been captured.
6. Other than Hope House and Milson Clinic, what other sexual health/contraception help and advice is offered in Cheltenham?
The local GP should be able to support sexual health /contraception health and advice, that does not require a specialist response. There are also Primary Care sexual health clinics in the county and any patient that is a resident of Gloucestershire, can access these. However, the primary care sexual health clinic located in Cheltenham is at St. Catherine’s Surgery.
