FOI Response

Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 430 2023
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
Please could you provide the information to the following questions:
1. The number of patients referred to the service for eating disorders from 2018-2022 split monthly, if possible.
2. The number of patients referred to the service for eating disorders from 2018-2022 split by age 3. The number of patients referred to the service for eating disorders from 2018-2022 split by sex
4. The number of patients referred to the service for eating disorders from 2018-2022 split by whether they received inpatient or outpatient care
5. The number of patients referred to the service for eating disorders from 2018-2022 that received inpatient treatment
6. The number of patients referred to the service for eating disorders from 2018-2022 that had to wait longer than 12 weeks for any type of care.
Please note that we will not be able to respond to questions 4 and 5 because over that length of time most/all patients accessing inpatient care Medical and SEDU. will have also have community/outpatient care before and after.
It would be highly unusual for a patient who has needed inpatient care medical or SEDU. to not also have had community care before and/or after. If this did occur it would likely be due to the patient declining care and having capacity to do so.
The response below is for children aged under 18 at the time of referral. All children are assessed and treated within our “All age Eating Disorder Service” and not in the Children and Young People’s service.

Question 6
Below is a count of the number of patients that had to wait longer that 12 weeks to receive their first appointment with eating disorder teams. Please note that in order to answer this FOI the waiting time has been calculated by subtracting the date of referral from the date of first appointment. Where the patient waited more than 84 days for then they are included in the totals below. In addition, the date used below, is the is the year in which the patient was assessed and not the date that the patient was referred. Consequently, the dataset will contain different referrals from that in questions 1 to 3. The totals below relate to those patients that were under 18 years of age at the time they were referred.
