——————- Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 195-2122
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below.
1. What are your post-covid recovery plans? All services have been reviewed and have tracking plans in place where support is needed to recover performance. We continue to triage all referrals and prioritise those with greatest need. Some teams have waiting list initiatives in place, others are under service transformation plans. We continue to look at new role creation in services, review skill mix in our teams and are working with commissioners where historic capacity and demand challenges have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
There is equitable focus on recovery of service performance and recovery of the workforce. We have extensively increased our health and wellbeing offers and created a new hub model to support the workforce.
2. How are you currently looking to reduce the demand for your elective care services? We do not provide elective services, elective activity is undertaken by acute trust partners using our premises.
3. Are you currently experiencing any issues managing referrals and if you are can you explain them, please? Referral numbers have increased in many of our key services. These are driven by a number of factors; latent demand from delayed referrals during the pandemic, exacerbation of long term conditions during the pandemic, development of new needs or increased difficulties in existing clinical presentation due to changes in usual support services – for example school closures impacting the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
Work is in place to support these teams to manage their demand as efficiently as possible within the resources available. Some services have waiting list initiatives in place. We have sought additionally funding for key services to implement additional resources to address the waiting lists. All referrals to services are triaged at the point of being received and all services continue to prioritise urgent referrals.
Should you have any queries in relation to our response in this letter, please do not hesitate to contact me. If you are unhappy with the response you have received in relation to your request and wish to ask us to review our response, you should write to:-
