Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI 187-2122
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find our response below, we have only answered the questions applicable to Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS FT.
1. For 2019, what percentage of people over 50 with a fracture were offered access to a FLS? We are unable to provide a baseline percentage of people over the age of 50 who sustained a fragility fracture in 2019 this information may be available through Gloucestershire Commissioning Group.
2602 were offered an appointment with the Bone Health Service based on the FLS model. during this 12 month period. 2. For 2019, what percentage of people referred to FLS received an assessment within 12 weeks of fracture diagnosis? All patients were consistently seen within 98%-100% – 8 weeks see to treat timeframe.
3. For 2019, for those patients receiving osteoporosis drug treatment what percentage were reviewed for follow up 16 weeks from fracture? Within the timeframe issued this information is currently not available with accuracy as information embedded within assessment templates. All patient will receive a telephone follow up 12 weeks following the commencing of oral osteoporosis treatment.
4. For 2019, for those patients receiving osteoporosis drug treatment what percentage were reviewed for follow up 52 weeks from fracture? Nil this is not offered by this service
5. For 2020, what percentage of people over 50 with a fracture were offered access to a FLS? We are unable to provide a baseline percentage of people over the age of 50 who sustained a fragility fracture in 2020 this information may be available through Gloucestershire Commissioning Group.
1561 were offered an appointment with the Bone Health Service based on the FLS model. during this 12 month period. Please note the Bone Health Service was subject to full service closure from April 2020 – July 2020 due to the response to COVID-19. 6. For 2020, what percentage of people referred to FLS received an assessment within 12 weeks of fracture diagnosis? January – March 2020 – 99%, Nil service closure April – July, July – December records indicate highest percentage being 14% however this is due to a change in patient assessment changes from face to face to telephone consultation as 1st review due to COVID-19. 7. For 2020, for those patients receiving osteoporosis drug treatment what percentage were reviewed for follow up 16 weeks from fracture? Within the timeframe issued this information is currently not available with accuracy as information embedded within assessment templates. All patient will receive a telephone follow up 12 weeks following the commencing of oral osteoporosis treatment.
8. For 2020, for those patients receiving osteoporosis drug treatment what percentage were reviewed for follow up 52 weeks from fracture? Nil this is not offered by this service.
9. Is this a permanent service funded by a sustainable source? Yes.
10. Do you take part in a national FLS audit? No.
